Even at the 2003 premiere of the aquanale, International Trade Fair for Sauna.Pool.Ambience, the exhibition showed itself to be amazingly international with regard to contributors and visitors alike. Many factors contributed to this phenomenon. For one thing, the new trade fair concept took place at the same time as the FSB, and Solaria (international trade fair for solar systems). This new trio of trade fairs, with main topics centred on swimming pools, saunas, solariums, sports facilities and leisure, was the perfect combination to attract many target groups of national and international visitors and was able to harness beneficial reciprocal effects. So the aquanale benefited from this alliance right from the word go.

Furthermore, the activities of more than 100 foreign representatives of Koelnmesse and the international marketing efforts of aquanale exhibitors rapidly increased the renown of the aquanale in the international swimming pool and wellness branch. This was true both for the private and public pool sectors.
The aquanale is a hot topic at all EUSA and WAPSA meetings
The German Association for Swimming Pools & Wellness (bsw) https://www.bsw-web.de/) is the ideal sponsor of the trade fair. Over almost 20 years they have utilised their international contacts to raise the profile of the aquanale, for example at the regular meetings of the European Union of Swimming Pool and Spa Associations (EUSA) or, for several years now, also at the meetings of the World Alliance of Pool and Spa Associations (WAPSA).
Las Vegas 2016: As in previous years, bsw participated in the last American trade fair to take place before the COVID-19 crisis
WAPSA was founded during the 2017 aquanale in Cologne on the initiative of the bsw. Directors and presidents of swimming pool industry associations from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, UK and the USA all travelled to Cologne for just this purpose. Trade media coverage in the various countries and on the social media channels of the organisations involved concerning the WAPSA meeting also gave a huge and lasting boost to the international prominence of the aquanale.

bsw has promoted the aquanale at diverse international trade fairs for many years
For almost two decades, bsw has been a regular exhibitor and held presentations during the event programmes of international trade fairs, such as the Piscine Global in Lyon, Piscina & Wellness in Barcelona, International Pool.Spa.Patio Expo in the USA and Aquatherm/World of Water & Spa in Moscow. Their efforts have helped to cultivate international recognition of the aquanale over the years and have not only maintained but continuously increased the international diversity of exhibitors and visitors.
Abu Dhabi 2004: bsw and some of its member companies also exhibited at the Middle East Pool & Spa Exhibition and introduced the topic of the aquanale trade fair
bsw has also held its own information days in Bonn, Frankfurt, Berlin and Düsseldorf, which have also had a very positive effect.
The ongoing development of international contacts by bsw has already paid off for the upcoming 2021 aquanale. The European association EUSA has already decided that the EUSA president, Bert Granderath, will present the 2020 European Pool Awards in Cologne.

Please note: The next aquanale will be held from the 26th to the 29th of October 2021. It will be the 10th aquanale trade fair. So the globally acclaimed trade fair of the swimming pool and wellness industry will be celebrating its 10th jubilee this year.
The international trade fair for Sauna.Pool.Ambience will be held in halls 7 and 8 of the Koelnmesse in October 2021. The themes will be private swimming pools, public swimming pool construction, swimming pool technology, public and private saunas and spas and green living.
