Last February, the Belgian Federation of Swimming Pool and Wellness Professionals took up the challenge of bringing together its members and partners during an event that was slightly different from usual... With resounding success! Attracted by a combination of entertainment, presentations on specific subjects concerning the sector and the advantages of networking, no fewer than 150 people participated in this first Pool and Wellness Evening at Brussels Kart!
A captivating event that combined information, networking and a go-kart competition
The largest room of the venue was reserved for networking. Between the stands of the Federation's partners and the well-stocked buffet, discussions between pool installers and distributors were plentiful. It was the ideal occasion to meet new contacts or simply to reconnect with colleagues.

The evening was also marked by a programme of 6 workshops that were specially designed for the occasion, each offering a view of the standards and regulations concerning pool construction. With topics including the standards concerning soil traceability and environmental permits, the environmental performance of pools, and the legislation on biocidal products, there was something for everyone.
Workshop of the 1st Night of Pools and Wellness
The series of workshops began with presentations on the standards governing the management of collective pools. Since 2022, an environmental permit is required for public pools, with similar regulations in Flanders and Wallonia. A permit or authorisation is required depending on the size of the pool and the disinfection method, as was explained by Philippe Brasseur of SPW Agriculture and Ludo Feyen of Labo Derva.

Ali Qadari from SPF Santé Publique explained that, due to the health hazards, all pool disinfection products that require individual protection equipment have been transferred to closed distribution channels, for sale only through accredited distributors.

Benoit Vanderhofstadt and Andy Heurckmans treated the regulations for pool installations concerning excavations, highlighting the differences between Flanders and Wallonia, mainly in terms of the limit values of the volume of earth excavated.

Lastly, Joeri Dils, the CEO of T&A and President of the Federation, brought this session of workshops to a close by presenting the EN 17645 standard. This highlights the energy performance of family pools, supported by a series of labels, each of which is associated with a different element of the pool.

Of course, no event at Brussels Kart could go without a go-kart race! 90 drivers signed up for the tournament, but only the 3 fastest would find a place on the podium! Antoine Blairvacq (Tahiti Piscines) won first place, followed by Dimitri Frenay (Artec Piscines et Fils) and Antoine Cochet (Cochet Pierre Piscines).
