Born on May 3, 1937, David Adams was the founder of Golden Coast, a company that has made an indelible mark on the industry landscape. Established in 1977, Golden Coast began as David's personal venture into pool, spa, and sauna installations. Over the years, it grew to become the largest independent distributor of swimming pool components in the UK (now part of the Pollet Pool Group). David's son, Jamie Adams, former Managing Director of Golden Coast, summed up his father's life as "A life well lived - RIP David Adams." The company itself remembers David fondly, describing him as "Well-loved and well-remembered in our industry."
Beyond his entrepreneurial achievements, David Adams was esteemed for his integrity, diligence, and collaborative spirit. Colleagues and peers remember him as a dedicated individual who significantly shaped the industry.
Chris Hayes, Managing Director of SPATA, expressed gratitude for David's contributions during his tenure as SPATA President from 1986 to 1987. David's efforts were instrumental in elevating SPATA's role in representing and advocating for the swimming pool industry.
One of David's notable accomplishments was securing SPATA's offices in Andover in 1986, a move that symbolised the industry's growth and organisational development during his leadership.
David Adams' legacy also includes his role in supporting industry events, such as the first UK Wet Leisure Industry show. The show later became SPATEX; David Adams was the first wholesaler to book a stand at SPATEX (then hosted in Brighton) and others then followed. This industry advocacy has helped SPATEX become a cornerstone exhibition for the sector, which celebrates its 29th anniversary this year.
Eurospapoolnews extends its deepest condolences to David's family during this difficult time.
