The slatted cover is an excellent system to secure private pools. However safety is optimized by locking the slats at the far end of the pool. The pool owner only pushes the button to open or close the cover; a control box operates the locking device automatically. By avoiding the use of electrical parts in the device, water damage is not an issue.
