The upcoming edition of the International Technology and Innovation Fair for Aquatic Installations, TECNOVA PISCINAS, already has 150 exhibitors, confirming the high expectations for the event in the swimming pool industry. The Trade Fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID at its Exhibition Centre for the 22 to 25 February, hosts a sector that closed 2021 with excellent results.
A positive balance for the Spanish swimming pool sector
The Spanish swimming pool sector is fourth on the international ranking (comprising 17 million pools), and second on the European ranking, with 7% of the world's pools, only behind the United States, Brazil and France. Around 25,000 new pools are built every year in Spain, which makes it a very interesting market, if we also consider that these pools require regular maintenance and refurbishment.
However, 2021, which was defined by a complicated situation due to the pandemic, closed positively for the Spanish sector, with the construction of 30,000 pools. This is a solid and mature industry, with a bright future and brimming with business and labour opportunities. It comprises 2,500 companies and over 70,000 workers, and it closed last year with a turnover of around EUR1,400 million and 10% growth in business figures. The residential swimming pool sector grew in 2021 by 5.2% compared to the previous year.
This positive balance forecasts optimism for 2022, according to the 2021 Swimming Pool Sector Barometer by the Spanish Association of Swimming Pool Professionals, ASOFAP.
This will all be shown at the International Technology and Innovation Fair for Aquatic Installations, TECNOVA PISCINAS, a reference event for the industry and a showcase for the latest news and solutions for pools.
