In 2025, Hayward celebrates a century of innovation and excellence in the swimming pool  -industry. What began in 1925 as a small Brooklyn workshop founded by Irving Hayward has grown into a global company operating in more than 100 countries. Over the decades, Hayward has transformed the pool experience through pioneering technology, design, and sustainability.

1925 - 2025: From a Brooklyn Workshop to a Global Leader

Founded in 1925 in Brooklyn by Irving Hayward, the company first produced metal components before specializing in pool equipment during the 1950s boom. In 1964, Oscar Davis, a Hungarian immigrant and WWII veteran, modernized Hayward by introducing composite materials and innovative technical solutions. His exceptional career was recognized in 2002 with the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Thanks to him, Hayward quickly established itself as a pioneer in the manufacturing of filtration equipment, pumps, robotic cleaners, and water treatment systems. Several of his products became iconic in the industry, such as the Super Pump®, an undisputed standard for over 50 years.

Europe: A Strategic Hub for Hayward's Growth and Innovation

Europe plays a central role in Hayward's development today. The group has built a strong regional presence through targeted investments in industrial growth, innovation, and acquisitions. The 2016 purchases of Kripsol® and Sugar Valley strengthened its technological expertise and competitiveness in Europe.
Europe is now a fully-fledged strategic center for the company, thanks to a comprehensive local organization:

  • European Headquarters in Getafe (Spain)
  • Two factories in El Prat de Llobregat and Olerdola (Spain): production of pumps, filters, and salt chlorinators
  • Logistics and Technical Support Center in Saint-Vulbas (France): local service and responsiveness for professionals.

This industrial and logistics network allows the group to produce locally, manage its lead times, and offer solutions perfectly aligned with the expectations of the European market.

Sustainable Commitment and Smart Innovation

Each year, the group invests several million dollars in R&D to design more efficient and more energy-efficient equipment.

Almost all of its offerings incorporate eco-design principles from the development base:

  • Sustainable and recyclable materials
  • Reduced energy consumption
  • Extended component lifespan
  • Connected systems for more autonomous and precise management

Since 2021, Hayward estimates it has saved 2.4 billion kWh thanks to its innovations (variable-speed pumps, LEDs, automation).
Hayward's connected platform, accessible via a mobile app, allows remote control of all equipment (filtration, heating, lighting, water treatment, etc.), thus contributing to a more energy-efficient, more comfortable, and easier-to-manage pool.

Innovating to consume less is our responsibility. Every technical development must have a measurable positive impact, both for the user and for the planet.

A Centennial Looking Toward the Future

For Hayward, this anniversary is above all a springboard to the future, a strategic moment to reaffirm its values: technical excellence, responsible innovation, social commitment, and closeness to its partners.

In the United States, Hayward has chosen to mark this anniversary with a powerful symbolic initiative. Earlier this year, a $100,000 donation was made to Step Into Swim, an organization dedicated to teaching children to swim, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
In Europe, several symbolic initiatives will also be launched in 2025:

  • Digital activations and speaking engagements at trade shows
  • Internal and external events in France and Spain
  • Local initiatives focused on training, employment, and technical expertise.

Hayward continues to build on strong momentum in Europe, driven by connected solutions, a rsolid renovation market (80% of revenue), and the success of eco-efficient products like variable-speed pumps. Strengthening its position in commercial and premium segments, the company remains focused on user-friendly, durable, and cost-efficient solutions. At the same time, Hayward is optimizing manufacturing to enhance competitiveness and reduce environmental impact--affirming its leadership in the pool industry's responsible transformation.

This anniversary reaffirms the group's commitments: supporting causes of public interest, strengthening its European roots, accelerating responsible innovation, and building the swimming pool of tomorrow--simpler, more sustainable, and more connected.
