It’s official now! LED underwater spotlights from Schmalenberger last 10 times longer than halogen lights, consume only half the energy, and are made up of environment-friendly materials. Schmalenberger GmbH & Co. KG participated in the Central Innovations Programme SME (ZIM).
Supported by the Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology, the Tubingen-based company developed new LED- underwater lighting systems in the power range of 250 to 600 watts.
Dietmar Rogg, CEO of Schmalenberger, quoted: “We have manufactured hexagonal LED- diodes that enable the production of modular LED-underwater spotlights.” With this an illuminated panel measuring a few square centimetres to many square metres can be made from a single module. Thereby various colours can be produced, which can be individually controlled. The LED-underwater spotlights from Schmalenberger are more than just “beautiful lights”. As compared to energy-saving lamps, they are completely divested of mercury, thus making them particularly environment friendly.
Rogg brings forth another argument in favour of Schmalenberger LED-lighting when he says “a halogen spotlight illuminates for less than 5000 hours, our LED-spotlights, on the other hand, have a lifespan of 50,000 to 100,000 hours”. Moreover, this reduces the operating costs of a swimming pool for LED-spotlights consume only half the energy in comparison with halogen lights.
