Located in the seaside resort of Newquay, the family run Hendra Holiday Park offers the popular Oasis Fun Pools, comprising a 30m pool with three water slides and a toddlers' splash pool. Their outdated and inefficient dehumidification system needed replacing and the park turned to Cornwall-based leisure park pool installers Apex Pool Engineers to find the right solution. Due to the large pool water surface areas and the need for effective dehumidification, the decision was made to install a Heatstar Taurus.
Hendra Holiday Park upgrades dehumidification system with Heatstar Taurus
The Heatstar Taurus EC range is exclusively designed and manufactured for use in large municipal swimming pools and water leisure centres, providing solutions for humidity control, energy recovery, fresh air, variable flow ventilation, mechanical cooling and renewable energy heating.
Heatstar's sales and design team were able to create a special bespoke unit that was split in to eight sections to allow it to be lifted up onto the first-floor plant room and between two existing steel supports.
The new Taurus unit incorporates cross flow recuperators allowing the unit to recover energy from the exhausted pool room air into the fresh air which in the long term will reduce running costs significantly for heating and enabling the park to save money. Once the ducting capacity is increased the airflows can be adjusted giving the park the option to run all year round should they wish.
Alex Cole, Director of Apex Pool Engineers said ''Heatstar designed, manufactured, delivered and commissioned the Taurus system exactly as planned. We have installed many Heatstar products over the years and they are currently building further bespoke designs for us."
